The Functional Job Analysis (FJA) can be used to identify and eliminate physical stresses associated with work activity. This can help prevent OSHA reportable injuries. Also, the FJA can be used to develop functional job descriptions for employers. This helps ensure compliance with the Americans with Disability Act (ADA). Increasing work efficiency and decreasing stress makes the workers more productive in the workplace.

The FJA can be a useful tool in returning injured workers back to work. Objective measurements of the worksite allow for targeted rehabilitation efforts in the clinic.
