Promote Safety & Ergonomics,
Increase Productivity
And Reduce the Cost of Injuries
Physical Therapists with Atlantic Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation, Inc. have been certified in the performance of Functional Job Analysis through the Isernhagen Work Systems Network. The Functional Job Analysis is an evaluation that identifies and measures the physical aspects of work. This involves evaluation and analysis of the worker, the work and the work site.
The Functional Job Analysis (FJA) can be used to identify and eliminate physical stresses associated with work activity. This can help prevent OSHA reportable injuries. Also, the FJA can be used to develop functional job descriptions for employers. This helps ensure compliance with the Americans with Disability Act (ADA). Increasing work efficiency and decreasing stress makes the workers more productive in the workplace.
The FJA can be a useful tool in returning injured workers back to work. Objective measurements of the worksite allow for targeted rehabilitation efforts in the clinic. Working in this manner, the therapist can easily determine if the worker can perform the tasks necessary to safely return to their job. Also, with the FJA and a functional job description, it is possible to develop job accommodations that can allow injured workers to return to work sooner with appropriate restrictions. The FJA and functional job description may also be used to determine reasonable accommodations to help with compliance with the ADA.
