The drivers rehab program offers evaluation of the ability to drive and assistance in the selection of adaptive equipment that's right for the disabled driver or passenger.

A comprehensive evaluation includes: A driver's clinical pre-screen evaluation to ensure clients appropriateness for on-the-road testing. The areas tested are as follows:

1. Pre-screen evaluation
- Evaluation of sensory motor functions.
- Cognitive processing.
- Review of medical and driving history.
- Visual perception testing: perceptual processing reaction time.
- Visual acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception and road sign recognition.
- Upper and lower extremity ROM and strength, trunk flexibility and strength.

If the client is appropriate for a driving evaluation and/or training, their primary physician and primary eye specialist will be contacted for written authorization to continue with the
on-the-road evaluation.

2. On-the-road evaluation: assessment of general knowledge and an on-the-road performance evaluation in an appropriately modified vehicle.

3. After the evaluation is completed, training is available if required. Training includes:
- Use of required adaptive equipment in real world situations in zero, light, moderate or heavy traffic.
- Education or re-education of Driver Education for new and elderly drivers.
- On-the road training for learning to operate a motor vehicle safely and be able to pass the State road test with or without adaptive equipment.

4. Adaptive equipment "Prescriptions" for required equipment are provided after necessary training is complete and the client is judged competent. A prescription also helps to ensure that adaptive equipment is installed correctly and is specifically tailored to the individuals' needs.

5.
A final vehicle fitting is also incorporated to ensure that the final product meets the requirements of the client. This in turn ensures that the equipment was installed to the Driver Rehab Therapists prescription and meets the client's unique needs.
