Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic therapy is available from the Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach office. Therapists trained in Aquatic Physical Therapy work in a buoyant assisted environment to begin therapy sooner and advance quicker than a land based exercise often allows. Prior to aquatic therapy we talk with the patient about how a water environment can be helpful and the safeguards needed while in the water.

Aquatic therapy can be used to:

  • Gain strength

  • Gain ROM

  • Begin cardiovascular exercise with
    minimal weight bearing

  • Reduce edema

  • Improve Lymphatic return

  • Begin functional activities and training before land exercises may allow

  • Exercise with lessened compressive forces on the spine and extremity joints. Relax and stretch muscles and soft tissue

  • Aquatic therapy allows the patient to get moving sooner or in some cases to just getting moving period.
